An informed and supported birth

Our daughter Vera was born at 41 weeks on November 7 at a very healthy 4.2 kilos and 53 cm long.

My waters broke after a stretch and sweep, but I didn’t go into active labour quick enough so was put on an oxytocin drip after 36 hours, and then she was on her way and with us within 6 hours. I managed the contractions with the help of some gas.

The pushing stage was hard and long but with the encouragement of my midwives and partner I kept going and avoided any instrumental intervention. I felt really informed and supported throughout. The midwives were absolutely amazing and advocated for us in so many ways. We had such a positive experience and really felt all our learnings from Calmbirth come into action.
