Birth & Baby Village – Your Place to Grow

Educators

After working with pregnant women for over 20 years I know that you want the very best for your precious baby, but you may be unsure if it’s even possible to have a good birth or be a calm and confident mother.  There’s so much information and advice and it can be hard to know where to start and what’s important for you.

I’ve created this ‘Village’ to give you a safe and caring place away from the busyness of life so that you can enjoy a healthy and happy pregnancy, prepare calmly for your baby’s safe arrival and enjoy your new baby with ease and comfort.

My passion for birth was ignited with the birth of my first son in 1994.  I thought if I could do that, anyone could.  My second birth 4 years later was even better, and I’ve been exploring many different areas of birth work ever since, from preparing women and couples for their baby’s birth to supporting births at home, birth centre, public and private hospitals, and of course spending many hours with beautiful mums, babies and families as they navigate family life.  My work is my calling and a huge privilege and I’m forever grateful to every single person who has shared their journey with me.

“I wish I’d done Calmbirth.  My birth might have been so much better.”

When I meet women who have a baby or children and tell them what I do, they say one of two things:

I did Calmbirth and I had a fabulous birth.

“So delighted to have done your course and I will highly recommend it to anyone.” Carlie

“I can’t tell you what a difference the Calmbirth class made to our experience. I will be recommending it to everyone.”  Alex

OR

I wish I’d known about you when I was pregnant!

Don’t wait to have a bad birth then wish you’d done something differently.

Here are a few things Calmbirth can do for you:

Breathing

“Calmbirth taught me how to breathe through the contractions.  It was amazing how I didn’t feel pain, just pressure and stretching.”  Susan

When you learn specific breathing techniques and then practice them every day leading up to your birth, you’ll have a powerful tool to keep yourself relaxed when things get real.

Imagery

What picture comes into your mind when you think of a woman giving birth?

Chances are you’re imagining a woman lying on her back, sweating, groaning or swearing, with someone telling her to PUUUUUUSH!  Am I right?

If this is the image you have, then how can you expect to have a gentle waterbirth? This is how: in Calmbirth you do multiple guided relaxations which access your inner subconscious mind where those unhelpful images lie, and you change them to images and ideas of floating calmly in the water or birthing your baby with power in whatever position you wish.

“I prepared a special place in my mind, but in labour the birth room was so beautiful, I was surrounded by such wonderful supportive people, that I realised THIS IS MY SPECIAL PLACE.” Renee

Mindset

Your powerful mind attracts what you focus on.  If you keep thinking and saying “I don’t want an epidural” or “I really hope I don’t have a caesarean” or “My partner thinks he’s going to faint” then your mind will work to create these things for you – an epidural, a caesarean or a fainting partner.

If you tell your mind what you DO want, it will do its best to create that for you. What do you want?  A calm gentle arrival for your baby.  A relaxed body.  A smooth labour.  A confident partner.  A loving close connection with your partner and baby.  Sound better?

“I stopped listening to horror stories.  Instead I told everyone I was focussed on a gentle birth for my baby and I visualised my waterbirth every night before I went to sleep.”  Trina

Calmbirth is for birthing mothers.  It’s for partners who are going to support your birth.  It’s for your baby who would love a gentle safe arrival.  It’s for your other children who want calm confident parents. Calmbirth is for you.

At Birth & Baby Village we run regular courses to suit your busy schedule, so see our dates on the website and book early to save your special place.
