Emmy is a Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse with over 10 years experience in supporting women through all areas of their birthing and parenting journey. Her particular passion is in Antenatal and Early Parenting Education and she is happiest when sharing her knowledge and accompanying couples on their own unique journey into parenthood.
She says, “It is my firm belief that every woman is born instinctively knowing how to give birth but societal norms have caused us to lose sight of this amazing, innate ability. As a result, we don’t fully trust our bodies to see the process through and women become weighed down by fear and anxiety.
“I see my role as a “re-educator”, rather than an ‘educator’, and Calmbirth as the master-key to unlocking your own strength and ability to birth your baby in the best way for you. Every single birth is incredible and unique and having had 3 children myself, I can attest to the fact that no two births are the same.
“I have a special interest in helping couples to overcome their fears so that their experience of birth is the powerful, transformative and empowering experience that nature intended it to be, regardless of where your journey takes you.
“Preparation of not just the woman, but also her partner is fundamental to the process and I love that the Calmbirth program recognises the importance of preparing you both for this life-changing event. It inspires a deep connection between the woman and her partner so that together they can transition calmly to parenthood.
“At every birth a baby is born and so, too are a mother, a father and a whole new family. As a Parent Educator since 2012, I have been privileged to be there to help nurture many new families, but in offering you the Calmbirth program, I believe that I am offering you the missing piece to the jigsaw of labour and birth.”

What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator…I get to guide and accompany couples on the most important and significant journey of their lives!
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…. All radically different.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…. Tenacity, perseverance and belief in yourself.
My most memorable moment as Calmbirth® educator… The day I received a particularly beautiful, personal and heartfelt letter from a couple that made me realise the profound impact the Calmbirth course has – not just on the couple’s birthing experience but also on their connectedness with each other, their baby and themselves.
A favourite quote … there are so many but ‘practice makes permanent’ rings true in everything.
If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel …. I still cry at every birth! It’s a miracle that never gets old.
