Getting to know Calmbirth Educator Bec Fagan

Educators

Bec is a Registered Midwife and Calmbirth Educator. Over the past 12 years of clinical practice she has always loved educating, empowering and assisting couples before, during and after their birthing process. Having 3 children and practicing Calmbirth when preparing for her own births, she was totally inspired with all of the incredible information she had just learned she said to her husband,

Empowering Birth Journey’s runs a Calmbirth Weekend Retreat in the gorgeous Northern rivers continuing to Inspire, Educate and Empower couples into the future.

“I am going to be a Calmbirth Educator one day. I really do feel incredibly lucky to do what I do”.

My name is…Bec Fagan.

I work at…Lismore Base Hospital.

What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator…I love empowering couples with knowledge and confidence. Seeing the change in confidence from our first meeting to the end of our last session is always incredibly inspiring. I see such a transformation over the weekend in growth and connection with all couples and their babies.

My life in five words…Love. Family. Fun. Cooking. Busy.

What I love most about where I live…Our School Community.

The three essential things you need to take with you into labour are…Positivity. Strength. Clear Nostrils.

What I do to relax when I’m not working is…Cook.

If I had to describe my own birth experience in three words I would describe as…Empowering. Intense. Utter JOY!

My Most memorable moment as a Calmbirth Educator is…Hearing my couples Birth experience, which is generally a pleasant surprise to them.

I can’t live without…My Children.

The person I admire most is…I have been pondering over this question for some time now and there are so many people who inspire me. But I wouldn’t be where I am today as a Calmbirth Educator, if I hadn’t have met Peter Jackson (Calmbirth Founder), when I was preparing for the birth of my first child in 2007. Peter not only cemented what I had already learned as a midwife, but Calmbirth allowed so many elements of change to occur for the greater good for both my husband and I. Walking away from this weekend course 11 years ago I said to myself “I am going to be a Calmbirth Educator one day”, and here I am.

The best advice I ever got in my life was…Good things come in small packages.
