Maddi, is a Registered Midwife and Calmbirth educator. She grew up in rural SA on the Limestone Coast and is currently living and working in Mount Gambier.
“I have worked as a Midwife for 2 years and hold a strong passion for women centered care, and informing women and families of the benefits of Calmbirth, with knowledge comes confidence!
“I feel so lucky to be a part of the Calmbirth community and believe that in order to change the birth culture here in Australia, education and support is key. These childbirth classes are incredibly unique, empowering and believe me, the techniques work! Calmbirth focuses on obtaining a positive birth experience in whatever shape or form, using breathing techniques, acupressure, optimal positioning, visualisations and massage, as well as understanding the mind/body connection and the physiology of birth.”
My name… is Maddi Gill.
I work at…As a midwife at Mount Gambier Hospital, SA.
The best thing about where I live… The beautiful people I have had the pleasure to cross paths with!
What I do to relax when I’m not working…I LOVE brunch, and pottering around my home.
I can’t live without… My favourite people, dogs and good food!
What I love most about being a Calmbirth educator...I love connecting with women prior to their birthing journey and the fact that working in a regional area, I often see these women in hospital when they come to have their babies and see the Calmbirth techniques in action.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…our Calmbirth Labour Toolbox, comfy knickers and SNACKS!
My most memorable moment as a Calmbirth educator… Every time I see it ‘click’ when teaching women and their partners.
A favourite quote…Treat people with kindness.
If I had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes me feel...it makes me feel mostly, in awe of the woman and the baby working together, goosebumps, the golden hour and oxytocin hormones affect us midwives too!

My next calmbirth courses are…18th & 19th December
