Sam is a midwife and Nurse on the beautiful Sunshine Coast Australia. She’s also a wife and mother to a gorgeous cheeky 3yr old girl and her Golden fur baby.
“I discovered Calmbirth 4years ago whilst pregnant, and although our birth did not turn out 100% how I hoped, the tools we learnt got us through the tough parts and I had the unmedicated birth I wanted. I believed in it so much I went on to become an educator and simply love sharing the Calmbirth knowledge to expecting parents.
I still use the techniques today for Calm Parenting!
Teaching Calmbirth is simply a joy and passion that I never thought was possible”.
My Name is… Sam.
I work at…The Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
My life in five words…Rewarding, loving and busy!
The best thing about where I live is…The Sun, the beaches and hinterland.
What I do to relax when I’m not working… I love getting outdoors and enjoying the great weather the coast has to offer and checking out a good Cafè. I also love relaxing with a good book or movie for downtime.
I can’t live without… My Family, a cup of tea, books, music and chocolate!
What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator… Being able to empower and educate couples and seeing them transform with confidence.
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words… Empowering, Intense, Fast!
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…A Confident and Calm Mind. Great Support Team. Essential Oils.
My most memorable moment at as Calmbirth® educator…I had a couple come do Calmbirth who were having their third baby and the Father was very skeptical and not engaged much throughout the course and was clear his wife had dragged him along!
However.. I happened to be on shift just after their baby was born and and he was so thankful and was beaming and said he felt so much more confident in his role of supporting her and loved coaching her with the breathing and being hands on with the acupressure and massage and said it was their best birth by far. It is such a testament to the Calmbirth Course!
Favourite quote…“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” – Mother Teresa
If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel…Incredibly honoured to be witnessing new life enter this world and a family’s first moments together is such a privilege.
