A philosophy that respects every birth

Calmbirth doesn’t advocate for one way of giving birth. We help couples draw on their inner resources to create a positive experience, whatever the circumstances. Birth is a shared journey: the baby navigates through space - the pelvis and birth canal, the mother opens that space, and the partner or caregiver protects it. Our role is to guide you with knowledge, compassion, and practical skills to help you bring it all together.

An open mind is an open body

We always say that our Program goes from Head to Baby. Calmbirth was the first Program to make the mind, body, and birth connection idea mainstream. Calmbirth recognised how the woman’s mind and emotional state influenced her ability to give birth.

Our philosophy is simple. There are three roles in birth:

The baby’s role is to navigate through the space – the pelvis and birth canal.
The mother’s role is to open and create that space for the baby to move through.
The partner and caregiver’s role are to protect the space – the environment – so you can feel safe.
