Getting to know Calmbirth Educator, Rachel Davies

Every birth is a profound, life-changing journey, and Rachel is dedicated to ensuring yours is met with confidence, calm, and connection. As a certified Calmbirth educator, Rachel helps expectant parents transform anxiety into empowerment, moving away from fear and stepping into the strength of the birthing process.
With a background in childbirth education and pregnancy yoga, Rachel is also a professional birth worker having been an Endorsed Midwife for over 10 years and more recently a Lactation Consultant. She is also a mother of three children whose births have inspired her path as a midwife and empowerment of women. Rachel brings a compassionate and enthusiastic approach to education. Having witnessed firsthand the profound impact of mindset and nervous system regulation on labour, Rachel fell in love with the Calmbirth philosophy – a method rooted in the science of deep relaxation, conscious breathing, and healing.

My Philosophy

“Birth is not something to be feared; it is an incredible process your body was designed to navigate. My goal is to give you (and your partner) the practical tools and psychological anchoring needed to meet whatever path your birth takes with absolute presence and peace.”

I am excited and humbled to share this journey with you. To BOOK a Calmbirth course with me: [email protected]

My Name is….Rachel Davies (soon to be Bester as I’m getting married soon!)

I work as…I can’t answer that in a single sentence. My priority will always be raising my three beautiful children here in the Gold Coast. I am a private endorsed midwife, educator and lactation consultant. You can either find me on the floor at Pindara Private Hospital or out seeing women and babies in their homes in my private business Gold Coast Midwifery & Lactation.

My life in five words…I am blessed for sure!

The best thing about where I live is…Our home suburb in the Gold Coast is Molendinar (neighbouring Southport/Ashmore area). To live and breathe and work with local families as well as raising our own here is magic. It’s the perfect combo of coastal and hinterland, great weather.

What I do to relax when I’m not working…I go hiking, pilates or play lawn bowls.

I can’t live without…my fiancé and our children.

The person or traits I most admire is…I love people that are positive, kind and seek to build others up.

What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator…Knowledge is power right? It’s a privilege to empower women with education to enhance their birthing experience.

If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…Blissfully life changing.

The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…mindset, calm and lip balm.

Fun fact about me …. My fiancé and I are competitive lawn bowlers. That’s why we are based in the Gold Coast as it’s the hub for bowls. He’ll be off to the Commonwealth Games for a 7th time next month!!!!

A favourite quote…I have lots!!  Nelson Mandela famously said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel…

It’s not seeing a baby born that gets me as I’ve seen 100’s if not thousands of babies born. It’s seeing the result of holding space for women to find their true strength, empowerment happens here. It’s the partner’s face, it’s the birth after challenges, it’s the realisation that these moments are creating families and future generations. These moments are where the magic happens. That feeling can’t be described.

You can follow me at…Facebook : Gold Coast Midwifery & Lactation. Insta : @gcmidwifery

My next Calmbirth courses are…Check out my course links on the website – each month I’m hosting both weekend and evening classes. Beautiful venue which includes the most important two things…….food and parking!! Want a private session ? absolutely. Message me on the link on the website and I’ll set up a booking link for you.

Looking forward to meeting you and being a part of this journey
