My partner Chris and I came and done Peter Jackson’s Calmbirth course in the Southern Highlands in Mittagong on the 27th and the 28th of July this year. We are the couple that live in Appin, and my fear was labour in general, but mostly tearing. It was Chris’s idea to do the course as I was not very good at meditation.
Before the class had started I wanted as much pain relief as possible and I didn’t want to feel a thing, I just wanted my baby. When I left your Calmbirth course, I said to Chris that I wanted dimmed lights and meditation music in the room and I wanted as little pain relief, if possible. Over the next couple of weeks, I said if I needed anything I wanted the gas only.
My due date was the 9th of October 2018 but she surprised us and came on the 5th October 2018.
I woke up at 2:45am Thursday 4th October and noticed the plug had started to come away and my contractions started around 9:00am, Chris stayed at work until 5pm and when he got home my contractions were 3 minutes apart and that was when we called the midwife and made our way to the hospital. I planned for a water birth so was in the bath for a couple of hours where he reminded me to breathe and massaged the pressure points in my shoulders as he couldn’t get to my back where most my labour was.
I tried multiple positions to get her out and 4 hours later after pushing I became too tired to push so I needed to be cut and she needed to be vacuumed out, which was my fear from the start.
I had great support from Chris and my midwife but I also believe a lot of it came from the information in your course. I remembered to breathe and to try and stay as calm as possible and to trust that my body knew what it was doing. Chris remembered the pressure points and the meditation music and I managed to give birth to our daughter, Milah Jane Redondo on the 5th October 2018 at 4:06am. She weighted at 8 and a half pounds (3.8 kilos) and she is a happy and healthy baby girl.
I have recommended your course to a few of my friends who are currently pregnant.
I wanted to thank you and I feel very lucky to have found your Calmbirth program before my birth,
