Welcome Expectant Couples,

My name is Heidi from “Best Birth & Beyond”.

I love wearing many hats including Registered Nurse/Midwife, Calmbirth Educator, Paediatric Nurse Educator, Postnatal Doula and Mama of four.

For over two decades, I have had the privilege of walking alongside families in all kinds of circumstances, and I know from my own life’s journey, that birth does not have to be “perfect” to be empowering. My own births have ranged from long and challenging, to unexpectedly fast in a car by the Dunedin Railway Station, as well as welcoming a beautiful daughter willingly into the world with a complex non-correctable congenital heart condition. These experiences have taught me that even when pregnancy, labour and birthing journeys change, often unexpectedly, you can still choose to embrace labour and birth with a calm, confident, and empowered mindset.

This is why I love teaching the Calmbirth Australia program to couples. My workshops are welcoming, interactive, grounded in evidence and full of beautiful narratives of how my clients have benefitted through attending the Calmbirth antenatal education program.

Together, we will cover practical pregnancy and birth skills, share helpful parenting tips and resources, but most importantly you and your birth support partner will leave the workshop feeling like a connected and empowered team – ready to navigate labour and birth regardless of the direction it takes.

I welcome all families, whether this is your first baby or even if you have birthed many times before and are hopeful for a more positive birth experience. It would be my genuine privilege to journey alongside you, as you prepare to meet your baby, and begin one of life’s most extraordinary and magical experiences.
