I’m Felicity, and I dream of a world where birth is understood as a powerful, transformative, positive, and dare I say it, enjoyable — experience for every family. (And yes, pearls have been clutched at this very idea!)
My husband and I took a Calmbirth class before the birth of our first born, and everything I learned there carried me through two beautiful births, launching me into my most important mission yet: being mum to two little beings.
Even though I can’t stand open-world video games, I do love a good side quest in my own life, from working on women’s empowerment programs, to radio show hosting and producing live performances art, to the Victorian Human Rights Commission, to international humanitarian law.
My journey taught me so much about walking alongside people through genuinely vulnerable, unfamiliar moments in their lives. And how knowledge makes all the difference.
My goal as a Calmbirth educator is to work with women and their families giving them evidence-based childbirth information that inspires and empowers them to birth with confidence, in a way that’s right for them and support their journey into parenthood. Together, we’ll tap into what our bodies and our ancestors knew, we balance the art and the science, and turn it into real, practical confidence for birth. I look forward to welcoming you in class 🌱✨
My life in five words…“forever a student of life”.
The best thing about where I live is…The nature, and the people who create genuine community.
What I do to relax when I’m not working…Honestly? Anything outside by myself or with our little family. The stillness of the forests and the sea energizes and inspires me.
I can’t live without…Bad puns. Non-negotiable.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator…Watching the shift happen in real time when fear turns into curiosity, and then into confidence. Those strings of moments as the a couple realises birth isn’t something that just happens to them, it’s something they can actually walk into with knowledge and power.
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…Powerful. Expansive and Transformative.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…Knowledge, your people, and a healthy sense of humour.
A favourite quote…Change is the only constant by Heraclitus and Octavia Butler.
My next Calmbirth courses are:
