Georgette Khalil, is a passionate Calmbirth® Educator, Doula, and the founder of Birthing Culture.
“As a mother of five and a secondary teacher on a break, I understand firsthand the challenges and beauty of pregnancy, birth, and parenting. I am now shifting my career toward full-time birth work, dedicating myself to empowering and supporting parents through their journey.
“I believe that birth is a natural process that women are capable of experiencing with trust and confidence. Women are designed to give birth, and when they are supported, informed, and free from fear, they can embrace labour with strength and calmness. My own births, though each unique, were deeply empowering experiences. They showed me the incredible resilience and power within every woman, and I want every mother to have the opportunity to feel that same sense of confidence, strength, and accomplishment.”
My Name is...Georgette Khalil
I work at…Birthing Culture, Calmbirth By Georgette Khalil
The five words that describe my life would be...Family, Culture, Empowerment, Knowledge, Personal Growth.
The best thing about where I live…It’s centrally located in Sydney and enriched by its diversity.
When I’m not working and have some spare time I love..Reading, cooking, meditating, praying, and listening to podcasts. I love learning and continuously enriching my life with new knowledge and awareness.
I can’t live without...My family.
The trait I admire most in others is…Kindness, intelligence, helpfulness, pessimism (realistic thinking), and the ability to take action.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth educator is...The ability to empower parents with knowledge, confidence, and trust in their own birthing experience.
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…Unexpected, empowering and unique.
Three essential things you need to take in to labour are...Support, affirmations, and breathwork. Everything else—like a fitness ball, essential oils, TENS machine and a fan—comes after.
The most memorable moment I’ve had as an educator...Witnessing parents grow in confidence as they progress through the course, transforming their fears into empowerment.
A favourite quote…“She believed she could, so she did.” – R.S. Grey
How does seeing a baby being born make me feel...Despite having six children of my own and seven years of experience as a midwife, I continue to experience a profound sense of wonder each time a baby enters the world. I hold deep appreciation and admiration for the mothers during the birthing process. It is the awe in their expressions, reflecting their incredible achievement, that fills me with immense pride.
