Getting to know Calmbirth Educator, Helen Schmid

My name is Helen, and I am mother to three adult children. I am a registered nurse with a background in midwifery and public health research.

My own birth preparation took place in small group classes run by a midwife from her home in Balmain, with a focus on meditation and visualisation. I found this approach deeply powerful, and it has shaped the way I now teach.

I feel privileged to guide women, along with their partners or support people, through the Calmbirth program as they prepare to meet their baby and begin their journey into parenthood. As a Calmbirth Educator, my aim is to help both new and experienced parents feel empowered and confident as they navigate birth and early parenthood.

Knowledge is powerful, and understanding your options allows you to make truly informed choices. I look forward to meeting you and helping you find confidence, trust, and calm ahead of one of the most extraordinary days of your life.

Classes are kept small, limited to two to three couples, and typically run between 24 and 34 weeks’ gestation. Private classes are also available on request.
