Getting to know Calmbirth Educator, Imogen Hosegood

Educators

Hi, I’m Imogen and I believe that becoming a mother is the single biggest transformation you will ever experience, yet is one of the most ubiquitous experiences known to women. Your experience of pregnancy, labour and birth has a great impact on how you transition to motherhood, not only as you get to know your baby, but as you get to know your new self. You and your life as you know it will fundamentally change, and I hope this is in the best possible way.
As a midwife, and through my own personal labour and birth experience, it is clear how influential birth education is on this transition to motherhood. If she is informed, educated, supported and believes in her body, it usually doesn’t matter how the birth plays out – she will likely experience birth positively because she and her partner took the time to become educated on all their options and possibilities. An empowering birth is achieved when the woman feels educated, supported and has trust in her care providers, regardless of how the baby is born. And an empowering birth leads to an empowered, confident mother as she navigates this transitional period.
Having attended a Calmbirth course with my husband in 2024 during my first pregnancy, and being able to put my learnings into practice and see how confident and trusting he was during the labour and birth, demonstrated to me that Calmbirth works. I have so much belief in the Calmbirth philosophies and content, and I want more pregnant couples to absorb this knowledge and these skills, to have the positive, empowering experience that I did. So, I became a Calmbirth educator.
Through teaching Calmbirth, I hope to share the knowledge and skills to equip couples with the confidence and trust they need to have a positive birth experience, which will ultimately shape their transition to motherhood/parenthood. I want to see you bloom into motherhood!
