Getting To Know Calmbirth EducatorJessica Robinson

Educators

Jess is a registered midwife and registered nurse.and as a midwife she has supported many women and families during their pregnancies and attended many amazing births. She says, “In my experience I have witnessed just how calmly and confidently women labour and birth when they are informed and prepared.

“I fell in love with Calmbirth after I completed the Calmbirth program with my husband, when we were preparing for the homebirth of our first baby and continued to practice and use the Calmbirth techniques for our second baby’s birth at home. I especially found the breath work and daily relaxations incredibly valuable to my birth experiences.

“What I love about Calmbirth is that while empowering women to trust birth and experience the best birth for them, it also assists partners to feel confident in the birth process and understand how they can actively support the mother in her birth journey.

“Birth is an incredibly powerful and transformative experience and to be able to support women and their families in their journey to parenthood, is an absolute joy and privilege.”

My name…Jess.

I work…Caboolture Hospital Maternity Services.

My life in five words…busy, family, love, happy, golden.

The best thing about where I live is… living near both our families.

What I do to relax when I’m not working...when I’m not working I’m usually kept pretty busy enjoying life with our two little ones and two golden retrievers.

I can’t live without…a cup of tea.

The person or traits I most admire is…my husband – he is the most patient person I know.

What I love most about being a Calmbirth educator...helping women and partners dissolve any fears and lean into their birth journey with trust and confidence.

If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words… Supported. Positive. Empowering. I love that both my girls were born at home.

The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are..

♡  trust in your body and your baby.

♡  Support – to nurture you while you are doing something epic.

♡  Anything or anyone that gets your oxytocin flowing .

If I had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes me feel…To quote Dr Sara Wickham, “Birth is about so much more than the wriggling of a tiny body out of a larger one. When we birth, we don’t just birth babies. We birth ourselves, we birth our families and we reshape our lives.”

It is pure magic to witness and an honour to be a part of.
