Lyndal is a Registered Midwife/Nurse. Her recent maternity experience is mostly in postnatal care, however she has experience and has worked in all areas, including Midwifery Group Practice.
Lyndal knows and has seen first hand that birth is life changing and says, “I don’t just want to help you or your loved ones reach their birthing potential but over time I want to see and be part of a generational change where our daughters and granddaughters no longer fear labour and birth but instead, revel in the challenge of seeing what a woman’s body is truly capable of.”
I come to Calmbirth as a mother who used the Calmbirth ‘toolbox’ in all three of my labours. It was my Calmbirth class in Berry that sparked interest to become a Calmbirth Educator. I realised, I wanted to help others to approach birth with a calming confidence. Birth is a key moment in a woman’s life and an experience that can have so many flow on effects to parenthood.
To experience an empowering birth is life changing. My goal as a Calmbirth Educator is to enable as many pregnant couples as possible to experience that opportunity. Those who can leave fear behind, enter their birth space with trust, and surrender to labour are on the right path to achieving a positive birth.
My Name is… Lyndal Scerri.
I work at…Wollongong Hospital Maternity and Calmbirth.
My life in five words… Living my happily ever after.
The best thing about where I live is… the great outdoors.
What I do to relax when I’m not working…trackies, cheese and wine.
I can’t live without… family, friends and coffee.
The person I most admire is… I admire traits not individuals – humility, honesty, confidence, gratitude and compassion.
What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator… Watching the transformation from fear and uncertainty to trust and confidence.
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words… Powerful, incredible and mind-blowing.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are… knowledge, trust and confidence…and red frogs.
My most memorable moment at as Calmbirth® educator… after my first volunteer couple birthed I got instant satisfaction from a message with no details just “Calmbirthed the hell out of it”
A favourite quote… “Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else.”
If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel… it’s so beautiful it’s addictive, I generally hold it together unless the dad has tears, then I’m gone.
