Getting to know Calmbirth Educator Natalie Grinbergs

We are so excited to announce and introduce our fabulously talented Midwife and Calmbirth Educator, Natalie Grinbergs, who will be teaching for us at Southern Highlands Calmbirth and joining Director Karen McClay and Jenna Troy.

Natalie Grinbergs is a Registered Midwife (RM), Child and Family Health Nurse, and Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and has worked with women and their families for over 15 years.

Despite already being a midwife, Natalie and her partner also did the Calmbirth program to help prepare her for her own birth and found Calmbirth an invaluable learning experience. She says, “the Calmbirth® knowledge and skills, in particular learning how the mind-body connection affects birth, increased my trust in my body, and enhanced my partner’s ability to support me throughout labour and birth. Welcoming our child into the world was such a calm and joyful adventure, and it is my wish that every couple could experience this kind of empowering birth.”

My personal experience with Calmbirth®,and the passion I have for guiding couples through pregnancy, birth and into the early years of parenthood, are the reasons why I became a Calmbirth®Educator.  I believe that how you and your partner prepare for the birth of your baby is the most important factor in creating a positive birth experience, and a smooth transition into becoming a family.

My Name is…Natalie Grinbergs.

My work…I am a Child & Family Health Nurse, Midwife and Lactation Consultant.

My life in five words…Family, friends, music, adventure, coffee.

The best thing about where I live is… A quick walk around the corner into town for a coffee date, or a stroll near the river with native birds all around.

What I do to relax when I’m not working…Yoga.

I can’t live without… Family.

The person I most admire is….My mum. She is such an amazing support, her generosity & resilience have always inspired me

What I love most about being a Calmbirth Educator…Helping change couples beliefs around birth and watching them connect with each other on this wonderful adventure as they become parents

If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…calm, joyful, euphoric

The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…a birth partner who knows your wishes and how to support you, having belief in yourself, having music that you love!

Memorable moments at as Calmbirth® educator…When you see the mindset shift for a couple, with their beliefs around birth beginning to change.

A favourite quote… “It is important to keep in mind that our bodies must work pretty well, or there wouldn’t be so many humans on the planet”   – Ina May Gaskin, Midwife

If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel…It takes my breath away every time and makes me feel so privileged being present when a new little person arrives!
