Susie is a registered nurse, midwife and child and family health nurse. She is also a registered Calmbirth Educator who will be teaching the very sought after, highly acclaimed and TRUSTED Calmbirth Program at the Mater Hospital in North Sydney when it’s launched later in July this year.
My great love is midwifery and most of my career has been in this area, with time also spent in early childhood clinics and also working in infertility.
I have spent the last 15 years working at the Mater and most of that has been in the birthing unit…what a privilege that has been. It is such a special thing to work with a couple during the birth of their baby.
I have three children of my own and four stepchildren. We are a close family.
My Name is… Susie Brew.
I work at… the Mater Hospital, North Sydney.
My life in five words… midwife, family, friends, reading, walking, husband ( not necessarily in that order!!)
The best thing about where I live…Parks, cafes, restaurants and public transport.
I can’t live without… my dog.
The person I most admire…June, the best midwife I’ve ever worked with.
If I had to describe my own birth experiences in 3 words…three different experiences – ALL amazing.
The 3 essential things you need to take with you into labour are…calmness, confidence and love
My most memorable moment as a Calmbirth educator…the connection you make with couples.
My Favourite quote…“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well’. Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you had to describe how seeing a baby being born makes you feel…it is always such a miracle.
My next Calmbirth class are at the Mater Hospital is…
