Jess’s birth reflection:

As we enjoyed the first skin to skin contact with our daughter I felt an overwhelming sense of pride. Labour and birth was such an intense experience but my partner and I navigated it as a team – like a well oiled machine!

Understanding the physiology of birth meant I was able to labour at home for as long as possible, trusted my instincts, and felt confident to choose when an intervention was or wasn’t necessary. My partner supported me every step of the way.

We ended up having a natural birth with only the TENs machine as pain relief and an episiotomy to help in the final push. It’s the best result we could have hoped for on the day. I can’t imagine doing this without the knowledge we gained from the Calmbirth course. I would recommend birth education to all couples to get on the same page and take on the wild ride together!
