Rachael & Jedd’s Birth Story

Our beautiful baby Koa arrived on his due date on 30 June 2026.

We laboured at home for about 17 hours before my waters broke and we made the not very fun 45 minute drive to the hospital in active labour, delivering Koa in the water within 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital.

I had such a positive birth experience which was no doubt largely due to the preparation, knowledge and practical tools that the Calmbirth course provided. By understanding the physiology of birth I was able to approach labour with confidence instead of fear and to remain calm and trust my body.

Calmbirth gave me the mindset and tools to feel informed, empowered and in control throughout each stage and it gave Jedd the tools and understanding of how to effectively support and advocate for me. We cannot thank Karen enough and have been recommending the course to all our expecting friends
