Welcome to the world Calmbirth baby Kayce

Birth Stories

We are so pleased with how our birth went and really have Calmbirth to thank for it. There was no point where we were worried or scared, we knew what was happening and had plenty of things in the bank to help with pain and positioning.

Brooke and Phill here we had this little fella Kayce on the 4.10.23. I started early labour the night before but they were so mild I was able to sleep through them, just felt like mild period pain. At about 1am I couldn’t sleep through them anymore. As the contractions ramped up so did the the TENs machine because. I found it so helpful during contractions and was careful not to turn it up too quickly.

Eventually I felt we should time the contractions and we were 3 mins apart, I jumped into the shower and the water felt amazing, what is it about the water!? I felt a slight urge to push and that when we called it.

I really was worried about how I was going to manage the car ride in but was amazed at how coming out of the ‘zone’ and being more conscious really slowed the contractions slightly.

We got to the hospital at 10am at 8cm and I got straight into the shower, we dimmed the lights Phill sat in the chair in the shower and I was draped over him swaying and we were able to get my head back into the flow of oxytocin where things really ramped up quickly. I felt strong urges to push where I couldn’t fight it and I’ve gotta say it felt so good to push, the pushing was almost like a pain relief to the contractions. I moved to the bed and felt so relaxed and comfortable in between contractions. I had him in my arms at 1120am.
