Welcome to CQ Birth & Beyond! My name is Heidi and I am a Calmbirth Educator for the Central Queensland region, offering optional weekend/evening small group as well as private classes in Rockhampton and Yeppoon. As a Registered Nurse who has specialised in the field of Paediatrics for over 18 years and as a Registered Midwife since 2008, I am excited to take you on a journey of discovery as to how to embrace your pregnancy, birth and parenting calmly with knowledge and confidence. In addition to practicing clinically, I also became a tertiary nurse educator in 2011 and completed a formal qualification in Tertiary Education in December 2013.I am passionate about education, as I believe "knowledge is power and with it we can change ourselves and the world!"I first observed Calmbirth in action as a midwife working in a large tertiary maternity hospital in Melbourne in 2008. As I cared for couples who had been through the Calmbirth program I was amazed at how empowered the couples were as they embraced their birth journey. This was in stark contrast to other couples I cared for, who entered the birthing suites often hysterically afraid and seemingly unprepared. Although I was unable to attend a program myself prior to birthing four children, I took parts of what I had observed and used the techniques during my own natural labours. Each person's labour and birth are unique, with their own journey and story. Calmbirth is a powerful antenatal program that will release the couple to embrace birth confidently, passionately and without anxiety, so that no matter how their birth journey unfolds, the techniques will be applicable and useful. Calmbirth also has applications to everyday life beyond birth, and helps prepare couples to trust their parenting instincts as they embrace the role of becoming new parents.
