Isabella’s birth
Birth Stories
We would like to introduce our daughter Ilaria Vazquez, born on 30/01/26 at 6:05pm weighing 3.355 kilos and 49cm long. My waters broke on my due date 28/01 and started to slowly leak (I didn’t realise it was my waters- just thought it was a little wee each time as she was head down and, on my bladder,). We ended up going into hospital to check and they said it was a slow leak of my waters and I needed to be put on antibiotics straight away as we didn’t know exactly when they ruptured. I was told I wasn’t going anywhere and would need to be induced in the morning.
An unexpected turn
Birth Stories
I had a planned C-section, not by choice, but because my baby was in a complete breech position. A C-section was at the very bottom of my birth plan, so I felt extremely anxious, scared, and honestly devastated. To cope, I used Calmbirth techniques, especially breathing exercises, which really helped manage my anxiety and grief. I also prepared as much as I could by planning for both a natural birth and a C-section, as I’m naturally a planner. Asking lots of questions also helped me feel more in control, especially since I had never had surgery before.
The Birth of Charlotte
Birth Stories
Just wanted to share the news that our darling girl, Charlotte Winter arrived in the early hours 12.2.26, three days after her ETA. She was due on 9.2 and when we saw our OB on the 4.2 he did an internal check and advised that she was engaged and my cervix was soft so she was likely to arrive ahead of her due date so be on standby.
Expanding Midwifery Practice Through Calmbirth Education
News
At a time when Australia’s maternity system is marked by rising intervention rates and increasing reports of birth trauma, the role of the midwife has never been more critical or more in need of expansion. Calmbirth education offers a meaningful, evidence-based and informed pathway for midwives to extend their scope of practice beyond clinical tasks into the emotional, psychological and relational dimensions of birth.
Testimonials
Thank you Jess for the opportunity to develop and deepen our confidence through practical skills and a better understanding of labour and birth. We really appreciate the way you held space and allowed this to be our birth of our baby! I feel very empowered. Friendly, supportive, down to earth, easy to understand.

The classes are GREAT! Jess created a very relaxed environment while being very informative and approachable. I really appreciate these classes, I was feeling anxious about my VBAC but after learning more about the process of labour and the power between our mind and body, I feel more at ease and empowered.

Calmbirth really broke down all the stages & psychology behind what was actually going to happen. It helped prepare us mentally, emotionally and physically. Jess was so amazing, answering all our questions and helping us to feel calm and relaxed (with a couple of laughs along the way). Thank you Calmbirth & Jess.

We 100% recommend this course to all expecting parents, and from my personal experience, if previous labours hadn't gone the way you had hoped or you have previous birth trauma, I really believe this course will change your mindset and you can achieve the birth outcome you desire. Amazing course, Thanks Jess.

As a midwife, having my first baby I wanted to ensure that my partner and I were best prepared for our labour and birth. Calmbirth class was fantastic, Jess was welcoming, enthusiastic and professional. My partner was able to learn what to expect and how to support me. What we both learnt most was how to breathe.

Jess helped us to understand the role of a supportive birth partner and has given us practical techniques to work together during labour, delivery and beyond. The breathing and visualisation techniques we learned with Jess in Calmbirth have already come in handy.

I was freaking out prior to the class thinking about labour. During the course we were given information about what our bodies are doing at every stage, some common things that can happen, and ways to help a physiological birth. I now feel so much more prepared for any situation. We really enjoyed the course!
Anne-Marie & Allen
Jess was incredibly knowledgeable and really helped both of us feel empowered and prepared for our upcoming birth!

We couldn’t be happier with the Calm Birth training provided by Jess. Not only did she allow us to ask questions throughout the course, but she spent time in answering them thoughtfully and in a way that really helped dispel any unnecessary concerns. My partner found the course very useful and empowering.
