Getting to know Calmbirth Educator, Hattie Nairn

Educators

I’m Hattie – a Privately Practicing Midwife, Maternal and Child Health Nurse, Lactation Consultant, Calmbirth Educator and, my most important title: the mother of three precious little people.

Becoming a parent has been my proudest achievement and biggest adventure yet. Life-changing in the best of ways. Through three vastly different birthing experiences, I’ve been supported to tune into my instincts, mother intuitively and move into postpartum feeling strong and ready for the wild and wondrous journey of becoming ‘Mummy’. My personal experiences have only grown my professional passion for walking with families as they prepare to meet their new babies, and indeed, their new selves.

As a Calmbirth Educator, my goal is to support new and experienced parents to feel empowered with trust and confidence whilst navigating birth and early parenthood.

Knowledge is power and my strongly held belief is that if you don’t know your options, you don’t have any.

So you can get to know me, here are some quick facts:

  • I am a crochet buff! You’ll find my (educational) crochet breasts in midwifery baskets all over Australia.
  • I have a dark sense of humour – but doesn’t every nurse?
  • My husband and I are highschool sweethearts and still giggle all day long.
  • I cry when I belly laugh, I cry when I’m frustrated, I cry when my children say something cute… it’s really just a moist environment on my face a lot of the time.
  • I love to hike and I’m stoked that my kids are catching the mountain-loving bug!

I look forward to welcoming you to a Calmbirth class with open arms and helping you find confidence, trust, calm and excitement ahead of the most wondrous day of your life.
