Getting to know Calmbirth Educator, Estefania Giraldo

Educators

Hi! My name is Estefania but please call me Stef

I am a Registered Nurse and Midwife. I fell in love with birth when I first witnessed one when I was 16 years old, but it wasn’t until my late 20s after I had my first child that I started my midwifery studies.

I had my first child when I was 27, I knew very little about labour and birth at the time and basically went into it blind hoping for the best. Following my studies in midwifery and having had my second child when I finished, I understood how labour and birth work and this knowledge really changed how I was able to manage my labour and birth and how I felt when it was over. This is how my passion about antenatal education started. I have been on both sides of labour and birth, and I know first-hand the difference education can make.

I strongly believe pregnancy, labour and birth are normal events of the female body. By understanding how they work and what to expect from each stage, we are able to surrender to it and allow our bodies to show off their strength. I love the fact that Calmbirth teaches how labour and birth unfold and gives pregnant couples tools to not only survive but thrive in what really is the beginning of your journey as parents. Every pregnancy is different and every birth will take you on a different journey, there is no better time to prepare than now.

I would love to show you what your body is really capable of!
