Birth Story of Kyden

Birth Stories

Oh my god Ash!

My birth story is a dream come true and I want to thank you and the Calmbirth course for that. I think this will be our last baby but I would love to experience a birth experience like that all over again thanks to your Calmbirth class!!

Although this was our third child, we still took so much information away from the Calmbirth course and I have run into a few mothers (who I don’t know) and highly recommended you on. The course had such a positive impact, which completely changed the way we viewed pregnancy + birth and even the way we experienced our own birth forever.

My birth story;

I lost my mucus plug on a Wednesday morning and started contracting every 10-15 minutes, all night from 5pm until about 6am Thursday morning.

I tried to sleep as much as I could but at about 2am i started getting irritated from the pain increasing but mostly from falling asleep and then waking up every 10-15 minutes.

I ran a bath and stayed in there for an hour. With every contraction I did my breath work and kept a positive mindset knowing each contraction was bringing me closer to meeting my baby boy, just like we practiced within the Calmbirth course. I then hopped out of the bath and filled up a hot water bottle, placed it on my back and tried to get a bit more sleep as I knew today was the day I would be birthing my baby!

The contractions started ramping up once I got up for the day.

I rang the birthing suite about 8:30am to let them know things were getting more intense who advised to head up to birth suite being my 3rd baby.

We went into the birthing suite which is where i asked to see how far dilated I was as it had already been a long 15 hours where the nurse advised 7-8cm dilated.

After a few more contractions i decide to opt for the bath as a choice of pain relief.

Me & Dylan hopped in the water together and just went through the each wave of contractions together. I always dreamed of a water birth but after 2 traumatic births, it was the last thing I expected.

In the transitional stage of labour, I closed my eyes and listened to my body allowing it to free flow with the gravity of the water and Dylan holding me from behind all I remember is being in a world of my own.

An hour later with only 2 pushes Kyden was earth-side and born in the bath. It truely was like I was in a dream.

No nurse intervention, they did not say a word when I was in active labour they just let me labour naturally allowing me to be in sync with my body. Me and Dylan were in our own little bubble with oxytocin flowing and everything was going so well it was like something out of a movie.

After the 2 traumatic births I previously had, I never thought I would experience such a magical birth. 4 hours later we were home with our kids and could not stop reflecting on the positive experience we had. Even 4 weeks on, we still can’t stop talking about how amazing the birth was.
